Recreation Therapy

Recreation therapy (also known as rec therapy or therapeutic recreation) is a form of treatment that utilizes recreation and other activity-based interventions to improve areas of well-being. The recreation therapist will focus on an individuals’ needs, stregnths, interests and abilities to help reach goals, increase wellness, independence based on assessment findings. Interventions will support purposeful and meaningful engagement that are tailored to support successful engagement.

At Global Senior Care, we employ a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) who will create advanced care plans with the goal to improve or maintain physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual functioning of our clients.

Clients who typically benefit from recreation therapy include those who have physical, cognitive and emotional challenges as a result of an injury or disease. Clients with dementia can greatly benefit from rec therapy and Rec Therapist will work closely with our client’s support system to create a personalized care plan and programs which will include therapeutic activities.
